Well i have no time for him or for most movie-martial artists (except Toshiro Mifune who is the mutts nuts).... but i have to give it to S.S for that time he appeared on the Muppet show and lampooned himself hilariously! Maybe there's a youtube for that?

I'm sorry "movie star"? You people don't know what you're talking about. How about "God". Lets put this in context, The Seagull is awesome, and beyond your petty discussion. End of story. If he sees this thread I may just be the only one to survive, maybe.

S.S was a great aikido instructor - in my honest opinion.
First white man to open a martial arts school in Japan.
In all fairness he was married to his sensei's daughter [as far as I know].

He's now concentrating on his music...seriously!!!

As for his movies I watch them just in case he pulls something special out of his bag of tricks.

Most are rubbish and straight to dvd in his last forgetable dvd release he waves his hands to the camera for the close up and the the thin stuntman [S.S. has gained a few pounds over the years] does jumping back kicks and many moves that are not classical S.S.

Remember Nico? What a great opening scene...the randori is great!!!

please S.S I don't want to have to be drunk to look at your latest releases please go on a diet and show off a little more of the old you.......just keep Tom Arnold and Anthony Anderson in your movies they can be the comic relief as opposed to you black leather jacket to avoid showing your bulk...

    later

    Me too.

Of all the people he has ever killed he has never used the same technique twice

Nico was a big change in direction for MA action movies at the time!

It's become forgotten now mixed in with the muck that he slops out in the following years.

You have to be messing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

A good teacher is judged by his students... here's a clip of one of Steven Segals students grading for his black belt... it's way beyond awful!!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyyFlHhtWoI

I've heard, he bought all his dan grades... saying that though, you're right, some of the aikido from his early movies wasn't bad.

That's a sick way to try and get me to watch it again... I thought it was a guy grading :p

I've seen hundreds of gradings from 6th kyu to 4th dan....and lots of people pass who imo shouldn't... so he/she could easily have passed :(

    Hey Monkey,
You're fairly close there. Actually his father in law sits (sat?) on the council of who gets to open an Aikido dojo in Japan and the licence was granted to him and his wife, who I beleive was about fourth or fifth Dan at the time. I am lead to beleive that his licence has since been revoked after he re married in the states without divorcing his estranged Japanese wife.
Or, so i've been told :D
