    From a Villa blog:
Martin O'Neill has just confirmed he'll be taking over at Aston Villa on Five Live and while doing so he said "Aston Villa are a sleeping giant".

He spoke of the European Cup triumph 'less than half a century ago' and how he'd like to achieve something with Aston Villa.

Now that I've heard Martin O'Neill talk about managing Villa I am happy. I had fears that we'd see David Platt walk out with Doug Ellis and announce that he's signed a three year management contract.

    no chance

o'neill has never been able to spend big money

with a large transfer kitty, and a bit of ambition, it shouldve been claudio ranieri we brought in

Pitty for Villa this didn't happen sooner, by the time the new ownership comes in will he have time to splash much cash before the season starts?
