Any one on these boards have any experience setting up Citrix Farms and if so whats the job market back home in Ireland like for Citrix Farms?

I work and live in Florida, from Dublin and work in Citrix Enviroment alot and was wondering if many companies back home use Citrix. Personally I like it, but can be very buggy esp. when using apps which dose not support running on Citrix.

    Let us know.

Not wanting to name names in public but there is quite a large base of companies using Citrix in Dublin. I worked for more than a dozend in the past seven years, for most of them as a consultant fixing the mess somebody else created! The money usually is good to excellent but you have to know what you are doing since the product isn't that easy. Also the last few releases are very stable. It really depends on management and tech-team understanding what they get and get out of Citrix rather than dreaming that it's the solution to all their problems.

I maintain just 3 servers in a farm four about 150 users. Out main use is for our Satellite users on our WAN who connect to us via a VPN. It’s easy to set up and easy to publish applications to the servers and adding users as such, its when it decides not to work it when the fun and games start. I spent many a night rebuilding one of the boxes after the whole deal bombed out on me, mainly when publishing new applications. I would test on my test box, everything would look good, publish to live server, and walla, wham, crash, bang

I think one of the Dublin city corporations use it, but its outsourced, to where, I don't know, but I'd say the user base is very large.

[Off-Topic]Quick question: is it hard to learn? I have some documentation for it, and was wondering about it. Also, how much would a test cost for it?[/Off-Topic]

Agree with you there, im with HP at the moment and the Citrix Farm in HP Bristol is always looking for lads, if you look at recruitireland.com theres always lots of Requests for Citrix Admins; To be honest Citrix is easy if you set it up properly, its a handy job.

Bottom line, shouldnt be a problem getting a job maintaining Citrix Farms over here.
