Is it just 40% you get if you pass the exam?eg say if you get 89% in the exam, will you only get 40% in your results because its a repeat?

    Thanks

Depends on the faculty. I know that engineering only count repeat results (not to be confused with deferrals) as a pass as opposed to the corresponding "real" grade. Commerce on the other hand, take a repeat result at face value.

Look for "Marks and Standards" on your faculty's webpage. It will give you the breakdown of how things are graded.
