Not from that area but Powerscourt comes to mind, be it the House or waterfall area. or Marley Park.

UCD - loads of places are great there, by the lake (O reilly Hall side) or the other lake or or out by the observatory, becautiful this time of year.

Careful Brady's henchmen dont charge you a tithe.

dunno if UCD would be the ticket, we both went there for years :)

powerscourt is nice but we went there last weekend, glendalough any good?

Glendalough is beautiful any time of year, but if the weather is in any way good, it will be packed.

Believe it or not, St. Stephen's green is a lovely place for a picnic. On a nice sunny day, it's great to sit on the grass munching on a chicken leg and washing it down with some chilled wine (or beer) while the world goes by.

Obviously its the Northside (dont let that put you off:) ) but The Phoenix Park is also very beautiful this time of year, especially with the nice evenings weve been having. Picnic country is certainly is. Its not that far out of the way either.

Blessington lake is nice. Never packed, so you can always find a nice secluded place. Failing that powerscourt waterfall is alright, but you have to pay in!

Mt Usher Gardens in Ashford (not sure if they allow picnics but there's a cafe on site) - beautiful spot.

Bray Head is nice, take car to a place called Windgates (half-way between Bray and Greystones and turn into the left. There used to be an hotel here but was demolished for a few tastefully built (for a change) town houses. There is a path down to the cliff walk and you will find plenty of space to set down and enjoy the stunning views.

Do you have a car? Using public Transport?

Glendalough is great but midgets in the evening can be terrible!

Powerscourt waterfall is great, lots of picnic tables and/or ground to lay out your picnic mat and on hot days you can cool your feet in teh river or walk a bit further into the surrounding forest for a little 'al fresco frolicing' *cough*

Marley Park is really good too, very big and great for hand-in-hand walking.

There is also Killiney beach and Dalkey to consider.

Sally gap is nice too but stay near the car as it used to be a well known spot for car thieves.

    Enjoy :)

Killrudery House in Bray has brillient victorian gardens and amazing views of the wicklow mountains - you could also head out to Glenroe and have your picnic in Biddys open farm
