I haven't been around in a while so apologies if there's lerady a thread dedicated to it.
anyone watched this yet? E4 9pm Tuesdays.

The prgram is based on the accounts of ghostbuster Maryann Winowski(sp?) she has her own website out ther with some ghostly picss for interested paranormalists and PI's, interesting reading too.
The guy behind the production is none other than James Van Praagh, medium extraordinaire etc etc..who also has his own website, which others may find interesting, message board has some good discussions occasionally and it would be nice to have some fellow irish bedfellows tuning in there too)

Nice series, it's well made and has good storylines and interesting theories.

Yeah i've seen bits. Obviously its made to get viewers in and is not 100% factual (gotta have those special effects) but it does look good.

I think some people will see it as just another Charmed or (heaven forbid) Buffy, but for those interested in the area it does look like it has some interesting ideas. taking into account that its semi-based or a real person makes it even better.

Not a JLH fan though :(

yep, seemed to follow in the footsteps of "medium" without the surrealism (and yep I'm a bigger arquette fan than JLH, though never got into medium much either)

(ps.s I hear she gets her boobies out quite a bit)

Yeah Medium doesnt appeal to me, Ghost Whisperer on the other hand looks like it deserves a chance.

*nice to have you back btw ;)

    cheers big ears

heres the link to maryanns site for those interested, she profiles some case histories of her work which make for good reading.

and here's JVP's link, lots of interesting stuff there, daily meditations in chat and weekly seminars on tuesdays, with logs (all of which I would attend had I not been banned) although I still pop up steallthily on the message board occasionally :)

Haven't seen it yet, just to be clear is it a dramatisation type of program or a documentary type ?

Who? arquette in medium or JLH in ghost whisperer? :D

not sure if arquette got her boobs out, just going from what I've read on some of the message boards dedicated to the show, lots of conservatives types going on about the amount of breast on display. Can't be a bad thing, nice to think mediums are actually human and do indeed have breasts. :)

I like the show, although it's a bit overdramatic but it's tv afterall.

LOL at the breasts comment, it's true enough that Jennifer Love Hewitt does not miss an opportunity to show off her assets, but she has a cute figure so why not?

Medium has it merits and so does ghost whisperer.

Medium is more girtty and hard edged and deal with the struggle having gifts can be from drinking to block it out to the fact your kids and partner may not understand why you are up until all hours or having to go off on errands and the challenge of dealing with kids who are slightly gifted.

Ghost whisperer is more fluffly tv,
is it pretty and shot well and while there is a struggle it is not a hard a life as it is for the mother in medium.
IT does deal with the subject matter well enough.

Ghostwhisper deal with the mediumship or necroscope gifts of the main char
while medium deals with a range of gifts.

Oh and JLH has the nicer ass.

medium was always on at some ungodly hour which I found difficult to keep schedule with, some of the episodes I did see threw me for a bit.
If I'm not mistaken, it was more about her abilities as a psychic detective whereas Ghost whisperer is about helping earthbound spirit to cross over. Always a happy ending.

    (never noticed her arse tbh)

[edit:eiither way it's nice to have this kind of programming in mainstream]

Well there is one more that has been on that I really enjoyed as it seemed someone did a goodly bit of research into it and that was Supernatural.
    http://www.tv.com/supernatural/show/30144/summary.html
The two brothers, bound by tragedy and blood to their mission, travel across the country encountering terrifying and dangerous forces most believe to be nothing but superstition and folklore, such as the Lady in White, the Indian beast known as the Wendigo, Phantom Travelers who cause plane crashes, Bloody Mary, and many more.

    links to the other two.

Absolutely, mainstream TV needs to have much more breast and arse and display, and paranormal related shows make a great excuse for it :)

I saw supernatural once, the indian curse one with the insects, must have been on very late hour too because I never saw it after that. reminded me of the x files. There was an english version of medium too, was very British, gritty, dull and grey, I figure as a reflection or portrayal of a mediums life, never got into that either.
Ghost whisperer shows it in a different light and as ultimately a positive thing, which is nice for a change.

I'm thinking of the possibilities of an Irish version....

I'll ignore that pic of me!

Anyway ...Supernatural is a great show, have only seen a couple of them but they were great. A vampire one with Donald Sutherland ... very Salems Lot.
