Delta Retail Park

I came across yet another retail park development recently. It's beside Eastway business (across from the vet clinic)

Does anyone know what businesses are going in here? And is the an anchor tenant as of yet?

I know that McCarthy's Furniture are going in there! thats all! to be honest i dont think it will do well! after all CityEast isn't full and its nearly open a year and theres stil empty Units. Limerick has nearly every shop! Homebase, B&Q, Reid Furniture, Halfords, theres not much more that we dont have! And another thing, all these retail parks are too close to each other, how about one out the northside for a change

You never know, developers presumably don't spend their money for no reason. Things need time to catch on, there's still plenty of room for development.

I don't think City East is doing as well as they should be. There are a few units that still haven't been occupied. Delta retail park looks really big, and I would imagine that they will have difficulty in filling those units also.

With all the huge plans detined for the city; I would imagine that businesses would hold out for the revamp.

Personally, I prefer shopping in the likes of city east and childers retail park, as there is ample parking. Maybe that's the direction that shopping is going in Limerick.

I hope not. I hate these retail park places. I'd much rather go shopping somewhere with a bit of atmosphere. I hate going to places like PC World or T.K. Maxx. They're way too big. I can understand why it suits business like furniture shops or something like that, that need a lot of floor space, but I don't see why clothes shops or computer stores need a massive warehouse.

Limerick City is hardly an appealling shopping destination as it stands. Cruises street could do with a face lift at this stage. Lets hope the opera centre and the bedford Row shopping areas live up to expectations.

One of the main reasons for the retail parks is the fact of what zone they belong to.. ie the County rather than the City. The County rates are lower than the city, hence why they are moving out.

The county council currently has more money than the city, and that why the bus lane from Raheen to the crescent is only going as far as the railway gates.

The boundries are so small in limerick city and its cheaper for a large shop to have its business in the county.

In my opininion Delta will be the Ugliest of the Retail Parks, Its has an ugly grey exterior with bits of maroon. It looks very bland and boring. Childers Road is the Place for me. Not only has it got good shops but it has nice buildings, Cream panelling with terracotta tiles. :)

SoundStore is opening on Nov 1st but that duznt mean its the first store, so it could be open in October or something like that. Anyone else hear of any more shops going in there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

Anyone think this place is going to take off? I see fine wines and another one have moved in, so much development going on out in that area at the moment, but a year on and the place still aint totally finished.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,882 ✭✭✭Poxyshamrock

Nope tbh i think it's dead in the water...Fine Wines ain't gonna bring people there imo.
And wayhay there's another bunch of units being built just next to Lyons of Limerick. I think it's about time somebody said "Enough is Enough"!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,176 ✭✭✭1huge1

Ya loads of developments going on there, but all kind of on one side of the road, so much so that the other side is looking well a bit barron.
