Has anybody heard anything about this or seen the trailer. Stars Jason Statham as a hitman who is injected with a poison that will kill him if his heart rate drops below a certain rate, (just like Speed, but without the bus. Or the bomb. Or anything else that's in Speed).

I know many will simply dismiss this as pap, and you'd prbably be right, but I can't wait for it. There are so few brainless action movies made in Hollywood these days, as opposed to back in the 80's and early 90's. I'm really looking forward to some pointless violence and bad dialogue.

Am I right in assuming I'm alone in this opinion?

Nope, im looking forward to it too. Saw the trailer recently and its definitely the kinda brainless flick i like to watch.

That "poison" thing though is really familar - i know ive seen it somewhere else before

I was also thinking a little of the bit in Crouching Tiger where he gets poisoned at the end but in that case i believe he had to slow down his heart.

I think the writer was drinking and doing a little too much substance abuse one night and watched Speed and DOA. When he woke up he remembered an amalgamation of the two and when he found out that no such film existed, he quickly wrote it down on the back of a cornflakes box and sent it to hollywood.

That's not how it happened, but I'm sure it's a more interesting explanation!

Ah looking forward to this mindless popcorn film - just like District 13 did
