I'm thinking of buying some new gear soon and I was wondering if there is any savings to be made by buying up north.

Can anyone suggest a decent bike and clothes shop and post a link if it has a webshop.

Was also thinking of getting a couple of the regulars here to go up and see if we can get a group discount.

Prices up north are supposed to be very cheap compared to down south, another irish biker site has discounts organised with crossans and maybe hein gericke to give further savings.

So get a user id and membership number before you head up and generally a 10% discount is available with this. You should also contact the shops directly before you head to give you an idea of the savings you could make.

As far as I know, Helmets etc are classed are safety equipment and have lower tax rates. It is cheaper, but obviously if you have to drive from Cork or whatever, you will probably spend some of your saving on fuel :D

Well worth a spin up anyway!

A guy on another site I use saved €235 by driving from Dublin to Hein Gericke in Newry to buy a new helmet.

That didn't inculde petrol but it's only and hour so that won't have cost much...

WELL worth the trip if you're in Dulbin.

Thanks for all the tips guys, ;)

The trick with the fuel is to buy it this side of the border, it works out at nearly €1.60 a liter up there
