I am on the look out for a no nonsense movie magazine and would like some reccomendations. I have been an avid fan of Empire since I was about 14 but there has been some recent ridiculous reviews that have left me angry and disillusioned. The most recent review which has sickened me is "Grizzly Man" It got ***** yes five stars and I saw it last night. Pure Sheeite. Nothing about this film is interesting. A retarded man got eaten by a bear because he was doing retarded sh!t. Simple as that? Yes it is that simple. Some sketchy narration and some nice shots of bears and wild foxes.. But nothing to write home about.

I used to respect (still do) RottenTomatoes.com but they gave this movie 92%.

Every scene made me feel uncomfortable and wanting to leave the room.

You do know that Rotten Tomatoes just takes the ratings from other ppl as opposed holding its own views don't you?

i thought it was a fantastic documentary. however if you don't like documentaries you woulnd't like this. Well worth its good reviews.

Agreed - watched it on Sunday and thought it was excellent.

I tend to take the rating and the reviewer into account as well as the type of movie. Documentaries wouldn't normally be my thing either to be honest.

Grizzly Man was one of the best things I have seen in years. How the hell did people not like it. A fascinating and dramatic insight into a man's extraordinary life.

His life wasn't extraordinary, he was a nut job! If you want a good doc, what about 'Capturing the Friedmans', 'The Fog of War' or 'When We Were Kings'?

And to be fair, one review of a film that differs from your opinion doesn't necessarily make Empire a bad magazine. Though I would agree their standards have been slipping lately.
