Looking for advice on the best route to go down for whitening my teeth. Should I just get a good toothpaste or is the bleeching method any good ? The cheaper the better, but I need to be gleaming white by July of next year for my wedding :D

Anyone any direct experience of this ?

    Thanks !

Those whitening toothpastes are bad for your teeth I hear, whatever is in them. People used soot to whiten their teeth years back I believe.

I wouldn't use those whitening toothpastes longterm. They're very abrasive and will end up wearing away your enamel and turning your teeth yellow.

Its true that many of these products depend on abrasion to whiten your teeth. However, by this virtue, they can also be useful for removing plaque. The quickness with which they manage this is quite alarming and hints that these toothpastes are, as Dagnir Glaurung said, not ideal in long term.

In many cultures, men and women brush their teeth using sand or even soot, and this can have whitening effects. Im just saying, Boots can be expensive...

My great aunt had her teeth whitened for a wedding too. The brand she used was not photogenic and her teeth were black in the picture.

You know if you'd just brushed your teeth in the first place instead of letting them go you wouldn't have to worry about this. Prevention is better than cure.

Yes, when you do decide on a treatment reduce your consumption of tea, coffee, red wine etc. How about asking your dentist?

Get a check up, the sooner the better, no point having gleaming front teeth if you miss the big day because of a worsening abscess between a molar and your gum.

Don't go experimenting. Ask for professional advice. Whitening toothpastes aren't good. And oh, if you do smoke better work on dropping it first. It will do you wonder.;)
