    are you overclcoking your pc?
if you are, reduce the overclocking speeds until you fix this.

    if not, open your pc,
and make sure the processor fan is connected, clean and not blocked by cables or other wires.

if neither of the above, turn pc on with case open and make sure the fan spins up.

    go from there.
i wouldnt run a pc with that error message.
    get it fixed asap

Looks like the CPU fan is failing which could be a disaster in the making, get a PC repair person to replace the fan for you. Any idea on what CPU you have?

ok just took of the side pannel there none of the fans seem to be obscured by anything they all spin when its turned on and everything, my zalman fan had a speed control but that was turned up to full so i dunno.

time to replace it then me thinks. 30/40€ will get you a good new one. their easy to install, but if you dont want to get a friend that know how to, or take it to a pc repair shop.

it may just have come unseated.
get some thermal paster and aalchol.
    lift of the cpu fan,
use some alcohol to clean the old thermal paste off the cpu.
apply some new stuff as per instructions.
reseat the fan and see if things improve

which fan the fan on the mainboard or the fan on the power supply? i mean it shouldnt be gone already cause its less than a year old at this stage.

The chipset fan, like the picture below. If its under warranty, you can get it sorted without any cost to you.

    edit: misread post. :)

    chipset fan mounted

I had this problem with my Asus A8N sli board. Turned out one of the screws was loose inside the fan, took apart the fan, tightened it and its fine now, no problems for the last 3 months

Warning: your computer CHIP FAN fail or speed too low

Isn't the chip fan the Chipset fan?? As in whats covered by the Green heatsink in the picture above

    Patricide,

To fix it, I removed the 4 top layer screws from the chipset fan, then under the fan, well inbetween the blades, their is another 3 screws.

On my mobo it was one of these 3 screws that had come loose. I tightened them all and it fixed the problem. Like I mentioned I havent had any problem since I never put back on the top plate aswell.

Ive also remember reading in the Tweeking and Modding subforum a thread about other people who had the same issue and replaced the chipset fan with Zalman passive coolers which seemed to work quite well, the only problem was really long graphic cards.

If you need pics or more info Pm me, incase I forget the thread :)

I also had this same problem on this same board. Basically it was on the blink for ages and started letting out a horrible whining noise from time to time. Then one day it just stopped, yay I thought so I left it. It was only a few days later that I noticed that the fan had simply stopped working. I checked my system temps and noticed that they had only gone up a few degrees and were perfectly acceptable. I guess the fan/unit is working like a passive heatsink or something. :D

Either way, you have four options. Either try the screws method and see if it works, let it die and leave it there, replace it with another one like the passive Zalamn Chipset cooler or contact Asus and get them to send you out a new one.
