I-tunes messing with my cd drive thing

OK whenever I downlaod i-tunes to my computer for some reason my computer wont run cd-roms or dvds or anything. It says that the computer can't see the cd-rom drive. I keep having to restore my computer to a date before I downloaded i-tunes, happens everytime. Any ideas? this is really wrecking my head. Thanks a million…
