hi all, am looking into buying a new pc.

should i wait until office 2007 comes out or should i buy now with office 2003 and wait until all of the kinks have been ironed out of the next, have seen that there is a beta version available to try until the new version is released, haven't tried it yet, i was on the microsoft boards and a few of the users were having problems with it.

    Opinions aprreciated.

    Thanks!!

Would that be any more expensive than waiting?

Office 2007 shouldn't stop you from buying a PC, as the previous poster said you can upgrade later.:)

edit: It won't be anymore expensive, I don't think.

Check if you have an employee purchase program, I can get office for €28 because we have a deal with microsoft.

ahh its the first time i've heard of it, have just googled it, might look into it, have the luck of being able to make those decisions at work.

could you tell me more about it, the freq asked questions page is about as informative as a ronseal ad.

Well, I don't know how you'd go about setting up the program with Microsoft. I assume it involves certain bulk purchases and exclusivity contracts but I'm just guessing.

All I know is I have a code I put into some microsoft page (don't have the link right now) and I get a discount.

I think the Office deal is a seperate one, I remember reading something about "due to X deal each employee is entitled to 1 copy of Office for home use" on the corp intranet.

Unless you need specific features, either get a copy of office 2000 from ebay for try OpenOffice, depending on your needs.

Wait, do you really need a new PC? Office 2007 and 2003 would probably run on the one you have if it's only a year old. Word dosen't take up all that much system resources.
    Paper Clip MKII?
Hey don't knock it, office clip MKI got me through some rough times last year, I hear the new one is even more sympathetic and understanding.
