i've won a camera on ebay. it's not available here yet and afaik is exclusive to germany and france atm. so i found a german seller on-line and got it at a respectable price.

he's got good feedback about 98.7% from roughly 500 deals and seems to be legit. however the listing was private (you couldn't see who bid for the item) which triggered off alarms in my head.

also he doesnt use paypal and wants a bank-transfer. i know this isn't unusual in germany as i've got small stuff via bank transfers before, but nothing close to this price (over €200).

    deal or no deal?

    quick look,he seems fine

why dont you decide before you bid/win if you are going to pay?

Looks alright to me. I've always found that the German sellers I have dealt with wanted money by bank transfer and it has always gone smoothly for me.

My German's not what it was, but does this sentence not effectively mean it's a take what you get kind of deal without any guarantees?

I wouldn't deal with him/her. From what I see most of the other items sold by this seller have been low value rubbish - Playboy magazines, chocolate footballs etc.

    short answer: too lazy ;)

i took it for granted he accepted paypal  yeah im not too worried about it but then again i've never risked that much on ebay.

i've used delay tactics to hold off for another bit, just to make sure. see what communication is like, if he gets frustrated etc...

yes it basically says that, but come on, it's ebay! basically every item has a take what you get deal :p

yeah the previous items concerned me, they are pretty rubbish, low value items. he also has quite a lot of cameras sold the past couple of weeks so again i red flagged it in my head.

as i said, i'm holding off for another while to see if he gets any negative feedback as the first high value items sold by him should be arriving about now.

he's got positive feedback from selling a few phones at fairly high prices so im hopeful!

    ah, you under-estimate me :)

that's the exilim ex-s600. the s600d (the one on ebay) is the exact same BUT it has divx meaning less storage is needed for video and also it can be instantly played on dvd players etc...

the s600 video's would have to be converted manually ;)
