Irish EPG and MythTV

Ok so I recently got MythTV up and running on SuSe 10.1 with a little bit of trouble but it's all sorted now. The channels tuned in fine but one problem I have is that because I have quite a dodgy connection to the internet in my apartment I can't download any EPGs at the minute. I'm on a basic NTL analogue package at the minute and all of the channels have tuned in but without their correct named, in other TV viewers on linux (ktv and the likes) the channel names show up no problem but with MythTV it's all Channel A29 and stuff like that.

Is there no way to make MythTV get the channel names from the broadcasted channel name? Also, is there any way to download an Irish EPG to append to MythTV so that I can actually set up recordings properly instead of having to do it all manually?

    Cheers in advance.

here's my cable link analogue cfg file

and here's my mythtv settings from mythweb.

I get programme information with the xmltv radio times grabber. It's missing
channel 6 and setanta information, but has the rest I think.

    Hi lads ,

I'm looking to setup up myth tv on knobmyth or fedora at the minute but am a bit clueless when it comes to the video source . I m on the chorus digital package , does the take much config to get myth to pull down the video source files .

Also, what do ye reckon of the following hardware encoders Matrox G200 or the hauppauge 150 pvr cards . I think I ll go with the hauppauge card but any advise would be great .

    thanks in advance.

the hauppage pvr cards are good and very well supported, I don't know the matrox one.

I'm using mine with ntl analogue cable so I've no set-top box to control. I don't know how that bit of it will work for you. I guess the set-top box provides s-video or similar out and you can use an ir-blaster (or if you're lucky) a serial cable to control it. If you give some more details maybe someone with a similar setup can help more.

    cheers quozl,

Here the setup. One of these http://www.sagem.com/index.php?id=666&L=2
set top boxs . It doesnt have a s-video ,it just has a rf out to the graphics card. I suppouse my question is how bad/good would the picture be with this connector type ???.

My earlier question about video source was in relation to the EPG side of thing and the Radio Times XMLTV looks the ticket for this.

    Thks.

RF is going to be pants :(, but you have SCART, so you can probably get Svideo from that. Some units dont have the Svideo pins wired up, in which case you have a choice of either using an RGB to SVideo converter or just send the composite signal to the PVR card.

The Hauppage range work flawlessly with knoppmyth.
