NHL 200 6 Max ring game.

$360 stack. I've red Kings UTG and make it $7. One caller on the button ('dontjump') who has me covered. He seems solid but I haven't been here long.

    Flop is 79T all hearts.

I bet 10 and am called. (pot 37)

    Turn 6c.

    Anyone/everyone bet here?

Theres a few ways to play this and each has its own advantages/disadvantages.

If you bet out the turn and he calls its still hard to figure out what he has but if he's solid we'd have to think he has either a made hand like top pair or better or else he has a strong draw.

If you bet out the turn and he raises we have to assume we're behind but have to call if given the right odds especially with the K of hearts.

If we check and he bets we'll have to call and consider the river if a heart hits. It's very unlucky if he holds the A of hearts in a heads up raised pot but its possible.

If we check and he checks we cannot fire a bet on the river unless the A of hearts hits IMO.

Personally i'd fire out 3/4 pot on turn and see where i stand. If he holds the bare A of hearts and you let him in for cheap by checking you'll be kicking yourself. I think you're ahead here most of the time so betting is the correct move.

I much prefer to pot this flop to try to end the hand now. This hand fits a lot of "call-a-raise" in position hands.

As played, I bet 30 and see what happens. I might well drop to a raise tho, he should normally have a better hand than yours v.often to raise you.

Do you want to end it now only because Villian may have Ah? Isn't this quite unlikly? He could have an oesd, but shouldn't I entice him to play for it as I have Kh?

I was thinking that a big bet would be only called if I was beat but a lesser one would get called by bad draws only.

Is the main reason to bet big here so not to have a tricky decision on the turn oop and leaving yourself open to being bluffed off the pot?

    Flibble:
I bet hard because its SUCH a draw-heavy flop, so I will get lots of action from all sorts of draws (as well as hands the beat me too).
I think you overestimate the ability of opponents to call with bad odds.

Also - I wont have any idea if villain has a better draw than me (AhX), or a better made hand, or just a straight draw, or a pair+draw type thing, unless I start firing.
If I fire twice, pretty hard, on this board, and get raised, then its likely that I'm in bad shape, so I can fold.

I try not to overvalue the Kh part of my hand here, as I could be already drawing dead to AhQh or some other holding, or drawing thin to a made flush etc.

Oh - btw - sometimes I check/call the flop and lead the turn.
