    Hi All,

just looking for some suggestions/recommendations for a wedding in Dublin next summer. we want to avoid the whole hotel reception/band thing and are thinking about possibly booking out a restaurant for a meal then drinks afterwards. any suggestions for restaurants that would cater for wedding parties, maybe staying in the restaurant afterwards or alternatively booking a room in a pub or some other private venue for the "afters". Our budget is not huge and we are probably talking about 40-50 people for the meal and maybe 100 people or more later on

    all suggestions welcome!

Hi my brother is doing exactly this on Friday for his wedding. He has booked Eliza Blues in Temple Bar for a meal for 50 / 60 people which allows us to stay there from 4pm until 8pm that night which is good because we were worried about hanging around until the afters that night. He has booked a GAA club for the evening (sounds classy doesn't it) but the GAA clubs are actually looking to persue this as a business opportunity so I presume they will have it beautiful decorated and are planning to take photos and such for publicity.

the function room above the Odeon bar is perfect for this. been to a couple of weddings there now. fancy room, private bar, hook up your own tunes

We looked at Beaufield Mews in Stillorgan (http://www.beaufieldmews.com/index.php?home). Very nice but you need either less than 50 for upstairs or around 100 for downstairs.

Also try Airfield House in Dundrum. http://www.airfield.ie/

I believe they do receptions too, but they don't start until after 6pm

Read that a good location if you are prepared to get someone to cater, decorate etc. is a racing track (leopardstown or somewhere like that) as they are rarely used so you can negotiate a great price and they have all the facilities (kitchens, bars) to serve food and drink.
