Moving up levels because of boredom?

I've started playing 25/50 recently for the sole reason that I'm bored silly on 10/20. I've reached the point where I don't care if I win or lose, the money isn't really important to me. There isn't sufficient reward for the time put in. Before I mostly played for enjoyment but fishy bad beats take away from that. Also on noble poker there is only ever 2 or at most 3 full 10 ring games.

I'm not properly bankrolled for this level online. Am I totally foolish or is there any sense in this?

10/20 or is it supposed to be .10/.20

    ehh... .25/.50

Haha yea I was thinking to myself, 10/20 meaning nothing to him, what a sicko!

But yea I can empathise with you. I have stopped playing cash games because my bankroll could only allow me to play micro limits and I got so bored with them because there really is just no thought process needed, you get a premium hand and you raise the bejaysus out of it.

But I'm afraid to say that .25/.50 isnt much different from .10/.20 in my opinion.
And also bankroll management is the key to success.

At the moment I've gone back to playing sng's to bolster up my bankroll and am doing well enough with them. That said I'm playing less then 10 hours a week....

sng's are the way to go if your bankroll isnt massive
id much rather play 20 dollar sng's than play 0.25/0.50 cash games

Perhaps play 6max games instead. They can be more involved as you have to play weaker hands and play them more often. Keeping a record of your wins/losses can be a way to moitivate you too.

You might like to try playing Omaha or Omaha hi/lo. That way you can jump from one to the other if you are bored.

Not really a fan of sng/mtts unless they're turbo. For some reason I get really restless playing them. Although the odd time I'll have a stt going with another cash table or two.

My God the players are seemingly even fishier at this level. Although on one hand my AA ran into a flopped set of 3s AND 5s. Doh!

and here's me taking the advice of some people and taking a break from cash games and when I come back I'm gonna be going back to micro stakes cause I've been loosing at the higher levels :(

If you are bored with .1/.2 then as long as you think you will put more effort in to the higher game then you are better off playing that as long as you acknowledge to yourself that you are taking a risk with your bankroll, if you start doing well in in the .25/5 though try and avoid getting bored again though until you have the bankroll to move up :) or else sonner or later that over anxiousness to move up will catch up with yeah
    best of luck anyways.

Speed STTs (never mind MTTs) are total crapshoots IMO. As for turbo....... Is this even poker?

Seems to work for me. Its basically like heads up with 6 people, if you get me. Push, push, push when you have a hand.

definitely not poker though, you get an ace, 2 picture cards or a pocket pair and move all in, thats it. total crapshoot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,186 ✭✭✭✭Sangre

Does it matter if I make money off them?

calm down pal im not critisizing you, im just saying its a crapshoot
which i think you'll find everyone agrees with, 1 or 2 minute blinds is not poker.
but if you have no patience and that suits you then thats what there there for

The point I was trying to make was if its such a crapshoot how do I make money off them?
It may not be pretty but its still poker :)

but surely you need to get cards in those games??
the element of bluffing is almost gone totally because ppl will call you with just about anything because they have no time to wait for better spots.
but if your making money consistently then its happy days i suppose
    different strokes for different folks
