    Hey-ho,

I've been playing around with iLife a little and gave the trial of .mac a go. Not used it for much, just to stick up a quick iWeb-generated site.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here had a .mac account, and if so, what their feedback is? How is the mail? Is the iDisk useful? The iSync useful? Are there better, cheaper alternatives?

    Cheers,
    nakey

If you have the monthly trial, why not use all those features and see.

I gave it up after a month, wasn't getting any real use out of it.

60 days of a limited trial isnt going to tell me everything though!

I signed up and gave up after about a month. My two quibbles were that the iDisk was painfully slow for uploading and the iSync never worked - these were the two features that I was particularly interested in! At that time (Sept/Oct 05) tech support did indicate that they were having problems with iSync. Obviously, things have probably moved on since then!
    Cheers

Yeah I've been using it for more than 2 years and find it excellent.

I need to keep the address books, calendars and bookmarks in sync between 4 different computers and I find .Mac brilliant for this. I've never had any problems at all. Depends what you want to use it for - I personally don't bother with the iWeb stuff because I use Movable Type software or Dreamweaver. IN terms of keeping a bunch of systems in sync, .Mac is the way forward.

My mail is identical across 4 computers as well. .Mac mail is IMAP so it sits on a server somewhere remotely. I only use iDisk for small documents, it's a pain in the arse to push large amounts of data around the place. FTP is better for that.

I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives, but who could be bothered learning all that WebDav voodoo stuff?
