    Hi all!

going interrailing in september and am wondering what kind of rucksack to bring? I'm a girl, 20 years old.... so should I choose a medium sized one rather than an 70/75 litre?
Also what kind of backpack/bag should i bring for walking around during the day?

    Thanks for your help,
    Jas

for the love of god do not get a 70/75 litre backpack - you'll never reach the bottom. 45-60 will do you no problem, and just a random light rucksack after will be grand!

i brought an 80L bag when i went IR but thats cause i was carrying parts of a tent. The smaller your bag, the less you have to carry around with you!

  • I had a 75 litre bag, but it was nowhere near full. It did get filled for a day or two though when we bought pasta and stuff, so i wouldn't automatically rule out a big bag. Bring as little as you possibly can. Sort out everything you think you'll need, then try and half that.

Get a 60L, it will take awway from the temptation to overpack. You can attach a tent to the outside if needs be.

I don't understand people who go over 60 - I have a 60, and a couple of times have borrowed my sisters 45 litre backpack - never needed anything more. Used just sling my daypack on my shoulder as well if I needed to cart something else.
