We need Internet Television

Not posting links but if you know what SW stands for they got hit hard by the MPAA. (Basically was allofmp3 for TV except streaming only). They are still up and running but only crap left. ESS got shutdown afaik as well (never used it).

ack... I cancelled my account, but I am so sick of TV. If there was an internet TV alternative I'd be on it like a shot. I only subscribed to begin with (about 6 euros a month) because I couldn't download and watch Lost on iTunes and I'm not going the torrent route.

I just think this way of watching media is a million times better then TV.

I reckon over time there will be ways of watching streams of favourite shows legally. Of course, it would most likely be on a premium basis.

I can't see premium price streaming being a worthwhile product. I am sure it would sell to some people but not a mass market appeal.

I certainly wouldn't pay for it if it was a watch only service, I use BT the odd time, mainly if I have missed something on TV that is not repeated.

Considering how cheaply DVD box sets can be got for I can't imagine paying much for high quality downloads never mind crappy streams and somehow I can't imagine the studios will be authorising DVD quality downloads anytime soon.

I forget who said it, might of been Joss Whedon or one of the directors of BG2005 mentioned that it costs a couple of dollars per fan to actually make a series. Or something like that.

the way i see it is yes it will be legal but im guessing it will be just 1 or 2 stations worldwide that air shows on the net and they are the only stations that get the new shows first and 2 large stations will be bidding over the new shows evuently we will just have 1 station with a worldwide tv show internet monopoly because a monopoly on the net is legal

Aren't sky supposed to be bringing in something like that? Thought I saw an ad on TV about movies available to download for sky subscribers.
