I have a little problem with a work college of mine. A few weeks ago she was put in charge of doing the break rota for the office. On friday last i noticed for the next week that I would be on a late break so over the weekend I had planned my luch schudule to suit my break patterns. I came in and monday and looked at the break rota again and she had altered it so i would be on an early break. I questioned her about it and she just blew up in my face saying I always complain about the breaks which was untrue. I might say ocassionaly when i am on break with her and my other co workers that i prefer the later breaks as most people make converstation like that on break.

She now attackes me no matter what I say. She is a co worker not my boss. Is there anyhing I can do about this as itis souring the athomsphere in the office.

Mods if you think this is better suited to another catagary please move it and let me know.

I guess her petty rota-role has been questioned and she doesn't like it. Stand up for yourself and tell her you won't be put down and abused.

Or alternatively, get you and your co-workers together and write out ye're own rota.:D

You planned your lunch schedule at the the weekend when your weren't working to coincide with your working break patterns? Please tell me I'm reading this wrong.

The Break scudule has to be up for the next week by 3pm on a friday. So thats why i planned my week on the weekend like making a doctors appointment and marking an appointment at the credit union. She was just been childish and wated to get her way. My boss and most of my co workers were horrifed by her reaction.

If your boss was horrified why didn't you get him or her to do something about it.

Ask her calmly and nicely (in private) to put it back to the way it was and explain why, outlining the reasons you have listed here. If she refuses, tell your boss that you would like it restored to the way it was, again outlining the reasons you have listed. Open with "I'm sorry to bother you but I was wondering if I could have a word about........". Do not get personal under any circumstances.

Some people handle responsibilty badly...it goes right to their head...give them a job with the hint of management about it and they turn into Stalin over night.

I'd take the break you were originally given. Tell both her and your boss before hand, don't ask them TELL them.

Ask her if she has PMS and then get her a big bar of choc? LOL! :D

I would just tell my boss that I made some appointments based on the rota that was made on friday and I'm off for late lunch even though the rota's been changed.

    Boss: "Fair enough".

    Easy.
