Just got a wireless router so my flatmate could share my broadband. How do I stop others bumming?

I don't know enough about wireless but I will point you in the right direction. This thread should have what you are looking for (I think in the last 2 posts of the thread). Good luck.

Login into the router and enable WEP encryption give your mate the key, both of you login and make sure you change the router password as its usually admin and password 1234.

Router software and config cd should have all the info you need.

Better to use WPA if it's available as it's far better than WEP. Stop broadcasting the SSID, disable the DHCP server in the router and set a manual IP address on both PCs. Generate a high security password here. Also, as Kdjac says, change the router access password.

    And enable MAC filtering.
