Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell is to write and record the theme tune to the new James Bond film, Casino Royale.

The theme for the 21st Bond film, in which Daniel Craig will debut as 007, is titled You Know My Name.

A film spokeswoman said Cornell's music was "both soulful and tough" and "the perfect complement" to the film.

This must be part of Bond trying to get a bit more edgy, but I'm not sure what to expect.
The first AS album was good with a few off tracks, the second was off with a few good tracks (but I'll still be picking up the next one when it comes out).
Cornell is a great songwriter though, and I love his solo stuff (maybe more on the way after this?)

Odd that Audioslave will now have a lot in common with Tom Jones, Tina Turner and A-Ha :D

I am hoping he does something more like that song Seasons, that he did for Singles - now that is great song

There is. He's releasing a solo album at the end of the summer and he is going on a solo tour. I saw him in the Dam on his last solo tour - one of the best gigs I've been at. Really looking forward to this album, and this bond tune too.

    OMG!!!!!!!!
Chris doing the Bond Theme. Deadly!!!

I nearly pissed myself with extreme excitement about a solo album/tour. As Revelations is out in September will it not clash with an AS tour?

Any links to the above info?

I will bloody travel anywhere to see him solo, it would be class if he had Eleven as his backing band again

Audioslave look to be coming to an end. rumours were on blabbermouth.net yesterday saying cornell was focusing on the solo project while the ratm boys have been given quite an amount of money to reform...

Just had a look on the AS fan forum, it says there that Cornell has a solo album but doesn't want it to clash with the release of Revelations. It also says that AS are not splitting up but TBH I would prefer if Chris went solo and RATM reformed!

Talks about Audioslave breaking up - not happening :)

This interview was done on Wednesday 26th (yesterday)

    Ta for that Ph3n0m.
    Quite a good interview.

Although I would have said the last rock band/artist to do a Bond Theme was Garbage(the band, tho you could have said the same for the song,it was poo)

Well the news of a solo album has made my day, now if I could only jump his bones..................

Are you guys serious about a RATM reform. Just imagine the Oxegen lineup that year!!! Coldplay ,keane, Gnarles Barkley... Rage Against The Machine!!!

Umm well I really like Euphoria Morning but him doing a Bond theme would just be bizarre.

And so it turned out to be.

Completely wrong for Bond. Thank god the film more than made up for the theme's utter lack of suitability. :p

Do they not have a third album out now? I'm sure i saw something to that effect last time I was in a music shop...

yes they do. Revelations. it's really good. their best album yet imo. I kinda like Cornell's bond theme. I haven't seen it with the opening secquence though... that'll probably make or break it for me

Well....it's not 100 my cup of tea but it's much better then what we've had as of late.
    Much like the films.
