I haven't received my P45

I'll keep this as short as possible. Basically for the past 6 months I was working for a small contrct engineering company on a probationary contract. At the end of the 6 months there wasn't enough work to keep me on in the company. Throughout my stay @ the company they never gave me a copy of my contract and only some of my pay slips. Any time I asked for a copy of my contract they'ld feign ignorance saying "I thought we had given you that but i'll have a copy soon". Anyway on my last day they had promised to give me my P45, last pay cheque, a written reference and all the pay slips I hadn't received. On that day I was given my pay slip for May (my last month was June/July) and my final wages. I was then told the written reference, the remaining pay slips and my P45 would be in the post. It's now two weeks later and I haven't received any of the above. The company was new and small, jointly owned by two people. I have rang both of the owners repeatedly in the last couple of days but they haven't answered nor have they returned my phone calls. Basically I'm asking for advice on the official line of action I should take as I'm fed up with trying to contact them plus I couldn't give a rats a*se what happens to the company. They always treated me as an inconvenience instead of the productive member of a team I know I can be.

Ring the tax office and enquire about how long a p45 should take and give the name of your former employeer.

    Poker face,

This sounds a bit off to me, the fact that you only received one or two pay slips and they wont give you a P45 sounds a bit like they weren't paying much or any tax for you at all.
I would think about getting on to the tax office and finding out what's been payed in in the last 6 months - it could be zero.

Keep hold of the pay slips for when you do, they could be vital to sting the employer as they would be responsible for taxes unpaid.
