I have just recently discovered photography. I am still very much just a "point & press" sort of photographer but I am anxious to learn more. Any & all comments are most welcome.

You most certinally have an eye for shots. Best tip is just to keep shooting, and if you don't know how to do something, ASK!:)

i like the third the most.
I started off just pointing and shooting then messing in photoshop. When I finally bought an SLR I got into it in a more technical way. Still learning tho. I'm using lenses for optical mesurements a good bit for work so that helps. One the photography has bitten there is no cure...

Thanks a million to everybody that has commented so far! I must admit to being quite nervous about posting anything on this site because there are clearly so many fantastic photographers on it.
Your comments have really encouraged me.

I am currently using a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. I have not quite figured out all the settings and I have never used photoshop (or any image altering devices)

I will post a few more photos over the coming days & weeks. Any advice that you guys can give would be really appreciated.

    Thanks again

That's a great camera your using Tara, want to buy a second one? haha
Try play around in Manual mode, or try a panoramic shot. There's a great setting on the camera that helps you take pano shots. + make the most out of the great swivvily lcd, you can take some great angled shots with this camera that you couldn't with others (well couldn't take them so easily).

    Keep posting!

Like the first 2 in particular, last ones have potential. They're all very promising

Ok - this might be a step too far but with all the nice comments I am going to risk posting another 1.

I dont know quite how to do this properly, but I slowed the shutter speed down a bit & moved the camera a bit to get a blurred image. I like it for its crazyness!

I'd have to say I'm not too fond of it.
Would I be right in saying it's a road? It's blurry moreso because your hands weren't steady. Here's some good idea's and pictures from the photo challenge.

Try some more and show us :)

Yeah - it is the cable bridge on the M1 at Drogheda. I was trying to make it look slightly blurred.
I looked at the photos in this months competition yesterday & am blown away by them. The photo of the monks is just amazing!

I will keep trying & post a few images if I get good ones!
