Have you been playing too many video games or putting a lot of pressure on that thumb? Otherwise have you been handling chemicals that you don't usually? It might just be a callus that you no longer need sloughing off. I've had that happen to my fingers although I certainly precipitated it.

Don't pick at it and it'll go away eventually.

The skin on my hands peels like that pretty regularly. I've never found it very sensitive. It's usually on my palm around the base of my fingers (thought it has happened where you have it, usually after I've gone swimming for prolonged periods). It usually goes like so. Small bit of skin breaks, larger circle forms, skin flakes off, edges go hard. Then it just blends in and goes soft again. Always thought it was just a normal renewal process myself.

I've had very small areas peel before but nothing like this, I wondered if it was connected with the hot weather or if I picked up a small infection. Dunno.

Xiney I hav'nt been handling chemicals, nor video games! :D
