15 hours delayed

Coming back from holidays in Portugal, I was delayed for 15 hours: due to fly at 9 O'Clock am didn't get off till 12 O'Clock the next evening.

Has anyone else experience this kind of delay and if so did they claim compensation.

15 hrs in Faro airport is living hell for me

Is my dispute with the airline or the travel agent?

there is a new european law, came in a few years ago i think, that compensates for each hour that you are delayed. the bottom line is the airline HAS to pay you..

    What airline was it with?

The airline will probably put the delay down to "reasons beyond our control", which is a nice little get out clause for them.

They don't HAVE to. There are various "outside their control" clauses which airlines sometimes use.

The same happened me last year on our way out to Greece, we were delayed I think 18 hours because they had to replace the windscreen of the airplane. We lost a whole day of our holiday, but the airline took no responsibility (which I guess was fair enough, I'd rather they fix the plane then get me there on time!) so we took it up with the travel agents. got a mere 20quid each, but there was nout more we could do.
I'd say take it up with the travel agent

My flight from Dubai in April was delayed by the same amount of time. Temporary accommodation was Dubai's most notorious brothel. Nice. Anyway, it was the carrier that compensated all passengers to the hugely generous:rolleyes: tune of €150 which was received by way of a credit note so I'll be forced to fly with the F*ckers again.
