Excuse me for being so naive but I have to ask.

Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown, The divorce court etc etc are they fake or what's the deal with them??

I got this from wikipedia so I dont know how accurate it is

Judge Brown's television program has no real judicial power sanctioned by any state or government. The television program acts as an arbiter of disputes either thrown out of petty court or otherwise not suited for the legal system. The producers maintain the pretense of a civil courtroom. The program also features Jacque Kessler (a so-called "court reporter"), and "Miss Holly" Evans (a baliff questionably attired as a California Highway Patrolman, despite her current employ as a Deputy Marshall of San Diego Country, CA).[1]

When I was younger I loved watching divorce court, would never miss an episode.

Judge Judy is all real people and she really was/is a Judge, but its not a real court (its a binding arbitration) and the show pays all the judgements....

.... not to mention a hefty $20m p/a for Judge Judys services.

    Always wondered this myself....

I was under the suspicion that they were actors portraying real court cases and real outcomes. For one thing, they had parties coming from all over America to have sometimes very small claims adjudged. If I remember correctly, Judge Judy's "court" is in California and the last case I saw featured a woman from Maryland...

If the TV show pays the outcomes, it'd explain why I've never seen anyone go ballistic over losing...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

really? so when some judge judy tells some idiot to pay the other person money, the show ends up paying it,

I thought they simply agreed to abide by the ruling.

Show pay cash stuff... if its a car or something then they have to do it...

next time you watch the show have a look at the fine print at the end... its something like "all cash awards are paid by a fund maintained by the producer"
