A router that can do everything....(My preference)

    Bare essentials.....

Or get this to make your 604 wireless.

You have to post more information about your laptop to tell if it has wireless.

The Di-604 is an excellent router (I have one myself). I would recommend going for the third option as outlined by LeperKing.

So is the DI-524. He might as well get that for the same price as the 3rd option, and ebay the 604, to get some of his money back.

think i will go for the di-524 router,my laptop is a dell inspiron 2200 and as far as i,m aware it has built in wireless but it also has the empty slot at the side of it for one of those cards.
so i am assuming all i need is the router.by the way thanks for the input lads greatly appreciated.
i cannot ebay my router as i am not a credit card holder.don,t you need a credit card to sell things on ebay?.and i don,t have a paypal account either.
can i not set up some kind of account on ebay using my bank account details?.

Go to the Dell website, enter the laptops service tag, and look at the original specifications. That'll tell you whether you've got wireless.

I used ebay as a generic verb. You can sell it here on boards, stick it in Buy and Sell, or put an ad in your local paper.

this is what the dell site says about my laptop wireless set up:

Adapters Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection - Packet Scheduler Miniport

so i persume i have built in wireless looking at the first one 1370 wlan mini-pci card.

That laptop has wireless. 802.11g to be precise, so you're all set. The empty slot, the PCMCIA slot is used for additional hardware to which you will not need to get the laptop talking to the router.

just one last question lads, when i was getting digiweb installed the lads had to put settings and stuff in my router,so what would be the story with my new router regarding settings and typing them in?.

The 524 has a setup wizard, so it should be very straightforward. I'd imagine any digiweb user will be able to provide info on how routers are setup. I'd guess it is just a simple DHCP setup.
