Latest Punkbuster Update - Can't play anymore

played last night without any problems but when I tried to play tonight , just when I get into the game and am about to spawn for the first time , my pc seems to freeze and then it comes back and I am disconnected from the server .

Only msg I get is 'you have been disconnected from the server' .

Something like this happened to me once before and it was also just after a PB update , that time I had to reformat to get it to work . A reformat is not on the cards this time .


Anyone else getting this or read about others getting it ?

Yeah got it tonight jonski, Just downloaded pbweb.exe and put it into the pb golser of bf2 and ran it from there, All was grand afterward.

Ah thats bad. TBH i only played one round since doing the update somaybe mine is't fixed either

Goto http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=dl-bf2.php and follow the instructions on where to put pbsec.htm

Last time I had a problem with PB was back in the BFV days, and once I put pbsec.htm in the correct place, it ran again.

On a side note, I'd like to laugh really hard at all the f*cking twats who reformat their HDD's everytime something goes wrong. Never had to reformat my HDD for a game. Sure, had to do a Windows Repair once or twice, but never a reformat, just to fix a game

She was due for a reinstall anyways , since XP service pak 2 came out I find I rarely need to format , but before that I used to often do it , took an hour at most and everything was back fresh , I didn't do it just for a game I did it just because I could .

Odd. Suppose I think its odd cos I collect sh|t. I used to have a HDD with ebooks I collected from BBS's before I got the net, untill it stopped working (as in, it started making that dreaded clanking sound). The funny thing is, it was brand new when I got it. But it was only 500MB's or less

TBH, a reformat should be the last thing to do. Its the easy way out, and you find out so much by actually fixing it. Esp if its something simple, cos then you can help someone else out.

One last thing, before you reformat your PC: try a few other servers. I think if the server isn't up-to-date with PB, it may cause a problem.

I am seeing this problem accross multiple forums now and all seem to be of the same opinion that it is PB related .

not that I have read anywhere , some are just getting a freeze and then back to server browser others have to reboot their pc .

Evenbalance released a hotfix last night and it fixed the problem for me and a lot of others .
