Do they have to draw them on him before every episode? Surely that would waste alot of time. Also you see him coming out of the shower wet, must be some pretty good ink!

they have developed a car-wash type system device thing that he walks thru and hey presto tattoos ;)

we don't see him that often with the full tats anyway, only really his arms. It takes 5hours to put them on apparantly, i think i read that here on the wiki page not sure.

He should just get them done permenantly to save himself the trouble :)

i presume they're drawn on ya?
i wonder could they get a tiny layer with the tattoo design and wrap him in it like clingfilm? Obviously very tightly....

Ah very clever! Wouldn't have thought of that. They look completely real, such a clever idea to have the blueprints tattooed on

Hey, if Kiefer Sutherland can do it as part of his Jack Bauer character........ ;):D

Though, I guess there would be a massive diference alright between getting just a single tattoo on your forearm and getting your whole body covered in them! :D

"Jack Bauer doesn't get tattoos.... tattoos get Jack Bauer"

..... sounded better in my head!

Gah... darn this compulsion to post before thinking things out! :D

takes bout 5hrs for them to put them on, but they last 2 to 3 weeks, Apparently u have ta use a special solvent thingy to get them off!:D

i'm guessing they would have the whole season planned out before shooting, so they could just do him once and then shoot all the scenes of the season that the tats are on show. I was thinking myself that it might be some form of henna, thats semi-permanent, because there is a lot of water shots where it isn't running. But a protective solvent over the ink sounds more reasonable. I'd say they do have transfers like the ones you used to get in those bubblegum packets, which they just stick on then a load of people just lick them until the've transfered to his skin :D

no, they did the tattoos a few times, not just once. thats what wentworth miller said in an interview anyway

    they are large tattoo 'transfers'
kinda the same stuff we used as kids... but much bigger, apparently that hardest part about applying them was to make the edges match perfectly.

I remember Paul Scheuring saying on the commentary on one of the DVD's for season one that originally the tat on his back (the one that Michael used a drawing of to drill through the wall) was supposed to be of Jesus Christ on the cross but they had to scrap it because of concerns that those of a religious persuasion might be offended.

The religious right has a stranglehold on TV & film in the US at the moment. Of course FOX will kowtow to them.

yeah those where the best i could find.

took them, rotated, cropped, changed colours etc. and made a few lines drawings of the tattoos in photoshop. Not exact, but very close to the original designs.

dressed up as michael for halloween last year, gonna take it to the next step next year with some really authentic (temp) tats!

done a few more now, they're really starting to come together, while none of them are 100% accurate they look fairly well, and even some of the less accurate ones will fit in well enough when im finished. Im talkin all over coverage!

gonna put the rose one (top left) in as its pretty kewl.

cant decide on the chest though, not sure weather to include the blueprints which is a bit cluttered looking, or just leave the daemon and angel motif (very hard to fill in), which might be a bit bare....

    opinions?

also jumpsuit from last halloween: http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/5391/foxriverfw1.jpg:pac:

First ones look great. The daemon and angel motif does look a bit bare and does look cluttered with the blueprints as you say so i'm not sure about that one. Nice work on the others dude.

im thinkin when its drawn on as a complete torso cover it might look ok, if theres no big spaces anywhere....

or maybe only include blueprints around the deamon, none applied over the actual drawing.
