External PCMCIA slot

    Bit of a strange one here. A friend is trying to find an external USB PCMCIA slot or card reader. Basically, he wants to connect a vodafone 3G card to a PC not a laptop. The PC has no PCMCIA card so we need to get an external one. These 3G cards are usually only used in laptops but this is for a built-in PC on a boat.

    There's a number of choices.

    You can also get drive bay mounted ones, if you plan on swapping the card out fairly regularly.

    lol yes. It was more by way of an example than a recommendation.

    I'd take the ebay option any day.

    Thanks guys, I'll check out ebay. It seems like a fairly specialised item so they probably charge what they like.

    This might be a bit overkill for what he needs, but there is a wireless router which the 3G connect card slots into and then you have a wireless network which multiple users can then use, it can also be used as a wired network:
