Where to go, what to do while in Dublin...

I am from Texas, USA and will be visiting Dublin 8/14 - 8/19.

What clubs are good to go to during the week and then on Fridays?
I am more of your jeans / T Shirt/dress shirt kind of guy.

Is there a "gay area" of Dublin or is it just spread out across the city?

Any areas I should avoid while being by myself?

Any help you could offer would greatly be appreciated. :)

    Hi...
    Its spread out a bit....
Different clubs on different nights - pick up GCN or Free mag when u arrive.
Some clubs are only on once in a while - so check the mags!

Clubs are a bit like this
Mondays = Slam in Rogue on Dame St, VIQ in Cocoon off Grafton st
Tuesday = Front Lounge on Parliament St, Glitz in Break for the border (off south william street)
    Wednesday = George
Thursday - Saturday = George or Dragon
Sunday = Bingo at George, then Spirit on Abbey Street from midnight

Pubs = GUbu on Capel street, George on Georges Street, Dragon on Georges Street, Front Lounge on Parliament Street, Centre State on Parliament street.
Avoid out on the liffey !!

I cant believe I typed all this

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

What is the dress code for most clubs in Dublin?

Varied. It will only ever be an issue with bouncers if they suspect you of being straight and looking for trouble, or a lost and oblivious tourist. Play up the mince while approaching the door, and you shouldn't have a problem.

As to the prevailing fashions - they're really quite drab these days. Tight tee shirts, ripped jeans and converse is the overwhelming norm.

Are non-gay people welcome in the George? I just want to go somewhere lively that isn't full of gurriers to enjoy a pint of smithwicks (please say they do smithwicks?) The bingo sounds fun.
