Hi all, I have two problems with my mazda familia(95). I have it now about 2 and a half years and honestly didn't think it would last this long. I had no problem with it Thank God . BUT only recently there are 2 minor problems iratating me. The first one is the horn. It doesnt work anymore. I opened up the front of the steering wheel to have a look and all the connections are fine. I can even hear it clicking somewhere under the wheel or ignition. The other problem is the electric window on the drivers side. When I push the button to raise it , it makes a machine gun sound when it reaches the top. I have to swich it off before it implodes. Any body out there with suggestions:( ??

The horn unit is usually located under the bonnet in the engine bay afaik, might be worth having a look there. Regarding the electric window, it could a problem with the regulator or the motorised arm itself. If you know what your doing it might be worth taking the door panels off and check the motor. If your not too good with these things then it might be worth taking it to a good auto electrician.

That's right, sounds as if the relay for the horn is working, so it's likely that the actual horn unit (behind the grille) needs looking at. theyre pretty much universal so getting a replacement shouldn't be a problem, added to the fact that the car has no airbag to worry about taking out, it should be a pretty quick job.

if you remove the door card and let the window up and down you might be able to see the problem, could be a faulty motor, or could be the window rubbers restricting the glass. Another possibilitz is that if the car is fitted with wind deflectors, these are catching the glass, these can often cause window motors to wear out prematurely.

This sounds expensive to fix . I dont want to spend too much as its a 95 reg. would u have an idea how much in a garage?

it'd be cheaper to try a japanese import parts specialist, like JAPREK on the old mallow road in Cork. window motor isn't a huge job, the biggest part is figuring out whats causing the problem!
