Was talking to a friend of mine who told me his laptop was dead after he spilt beer all over the keyboard. Now, he said he was getting it replaced through insurance and didn't have to give back the paperweight so i thought i might take it off his hands and try fix it up (free laptop if i can do anything with it, if not, at least theres a little ram for the taking).

I imagine he didn't turn it off imediately after it happened and has tried to boot it in the meantime, so the chances are its completely buggered, but i might as well do my best and take it apart. Has anyone got any idea's for cleaning the motherboard of any beer? I was thinking about taking it completely apart and using isopropyl alcohol or even deionised water to clean everything up.

i came across a good site for cleaning keyboards.

The best thing you could prob do is to completely dismantle the laptop. you would need to find out the exact method for this online somewhere.

but, chances are its buggered. best option will prob end up salvaging ram, hd, and possbily flogging the rest on ebay.
