I have a 10 gig partition on my laptop hard drive that was made for linux last yr and I want to reclaim the space taken up by the partition for my main os windows.

Can this be done without reinstalling windows??

    Thanks for the help

It sure can if you can get your hands on a program called partition magic
make sure and back up your computer first (just in case-always a good idea!)

    You need a large flag.

    Seriously, Yes.
    What version of Windows?
Or better: use Partition [strike]Tragic[/strike] Magic.

Backup your data before proceeding as a precaution.

The word of the day is backup, don't go and lose 10gb like I did a few years ago that one time at band camp.:) Damn you Partition Tragic! You could try Spinrite.

You shouldn't need a third party app. Windows own disk management should do the trick. You will find it by right clicking the 'my computer' icon and selecting 'manage'

I went to the disk management in Windows and it shows the primary with 65 odd gig then an extended partition that has the 10gig along with another partition of around 600mb how do I reclaim the 10gig into the primary partition??

When I right click on it all it says is do I want to create a logical drive??

If you can download (about 30mb) & burn this onto a CD for yourself, it's a very handy tool to have around.
