Shelbourne manager Pat Fenlon has revealed he turned down a bid from an unnamed Danish club for Jason Byrne.

Republic of Ireland international Byrne is being hotly pursued by a number of continental clubs though Shels rejected the bid despite their current financial problems.

Byrne had the option of going to Sweden with Djurgarden during the winter but decided to remain in Dublin.

Nothing on ShelsWeb yet bar the fans' reaction:

Hopefully we find out the full story. :)

There seem to be a couple of Scandinavian clubs sniffing about these days, John Paul Kelly is supposed to be wanted by a team in Norway, but given that he was homesick in Liverpool it's unlikely he'd be interested.

Kelly is far too good for Norway.
It's a privilege to see him play, and I hope he sticks around. Catch him before he goes.

Is it true that Liverpool have a buy back agreement for John Paul Kelly...?

    Don't know, OTTOMH.
It was said that they had one, or perhaps a veto on his going somewhere else, but that may have expired. There was some discussion of it on gypsiesweb, but I don't think there was a definitive answer there either.

When Liverpool let him go apparantly they got first option on him if he returned to England.
