I can't believe it, my memory stick in the washing machine, I don't know how it ended it in there, I can see it under the door nicely submerged in the soapy water.

Is there any hope of a resue as the cycle ends, do i just leave it dry out and try it?

When it's finished, stick it in the hot press and leave it to dry. Don't take it out until the washing cycle is finished though. You don't want to leave soap in it!

what ever you do dont try to plug it in until its well dry, if theres any water around the circutry it will short circut and fry some componants, maybe take it apart and let it dry for a few days, then try it, personally i dont see it working again.

Keep it in a warm but not too hot place, wrapped up for a few days. Best of luck with that and hope you didn't have anything that vital on it. ;)

Put it back in your pocket for few days. best place for it to dry out. dont plug it in for days till its fully dried out. Good luck.

It might be as well to rinse it well in clean water to remove any deposits collected in the wash. The rinse cycle might not clear material lodged during the wash cycle. If contaminants remain behind and dry on the board they might cause shorts.

Let it dry out slowly. You might have to dismantle to expose the interior to air.

plugged in my very clean and dry key into the PC today. Worked prefectly, the data I had on it before it went into the wash was still there. Thanks for the advice, worked great.

Yeah that’s lucky man that it worked for you. I saw a programme on Bravo and it recommended if an electrical item gets wet never to plug it in, take it apart as much as is possible (without breaking it) then let it under two 60watt office lamps for about two days and the heat from the bulbs will help dry it out. Also a stint in the hot press would not be bad either.
