How much memory have you got and how fast is the machine?
Check the CPU/Mem usage when it tries to load.
Have you tried uninstalling the "previous" version before loading on another "copy"?

I have 512MB Ram and 160Gbs of space. I think it took up 45,000k

Ahh yes I had the version before that Photoshop 8 CS

The reason I ask is that I have seen it run very sluggishly even with 512MB hence the question about CPU/Mem usage in Task Manager.

    CPU/Mem usage was 100%

So that only way to get it to work is to get more RAM?

Short of any other suggestions yep. Saw it run on two machines.
It ran fine on a 1GB RAM machine but had much the same problem you have on the machine with 512MB RAM (new install) :(

It's more likely to be an issue/conflict with previous version's files (Or previous, dodgy version. Ahem.).
Uninstall it again. Use CrapCleaner or similar to remove traces. Reboot and re-install.

    It will run on 512MB.

K where is the best place to get RAM for a Dell Dimension 4700?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,136 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

http://www.shop4memory.com or Dell themselves. Try as Karoma suggests first and clean off any reference to other versions and reinstall before splashing out on memory.

I have mine running on this terrible system:

    1ghz Celeron
    256 RAM
    Radeon 7000

It works fine so I don't think it's specs.

rofl :D , how are you even capable of using photoshop if you can't even take a screenshot, how can it not work, where you maybe trying to paste it into your corrupt version of photoshop? ... its like a blonde joke or something?

You probably downloaded a corrupt version of the software, torrents and p2p programs sometimes get flooded with files that have integral files missing, so that you still waste 4 or 5 gigs of your bandwidth, but all you get is a proverbial software paperweight for your desktop.

Contact Adobe if you did purchase this software for your computer (that can't take screenshots), give them your serial number, and tell them your problem. If indeed the download off their site didn't work, then they'll have to fix that and reissue you another copy.

    This is a common conflict caused by a un-proper un-install of a previous version.Most likely a cracked version :)
