Suggestions please, heres the ones I can think of to make AH lose it's 'anything goes' here reputation

    1) Things that piss me off
    2) Funny Youtube stuff
    3) The Big Debate Forum (debate anything fairly)
    4) Found this on the web wanted to share with everyone
    5) My dilemma what should I do (We have PI)
    6) Bit*h about foreigners

came up with this list from looking at last few days of post, did I miss anything, most of the others have appropriate threads if you really think about it.

Will you stop trying to become an AH mod please. I’ve found myself shouting at my screen twice this morning because of you! It just seems that you throw a load of words into a sentence in the hope it makes sense.

I've already suggested a youtube forum, people seemed to be in favour of it as a sticky instead, but just need for it to be setup I suppose

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054939031

Like you I find that AH is being bombarded by "you must see this" and the like, most of which is pure sh1t3 and belongs in the trash

I must say I don't understand the original post either.

What is this thread about? Are you wanting those 6 things to exist on AH or not to exist on AH?

The mods moderate these boards, they dont own them. Whats wrong with DB making a suggestion (and although it may sound a bit cynical, its actually spot on!)? Suggestions on how to stop AH being the stomping ground of every noob/lazy/"I wasn't getting enough replies in its correct forum" poster, sounds pretty good to me.

    Ah I see.

    1) Things that piss me off
    - I don't think a whole forum for this is a good idea but you could try requesting it in the forum forum?

    2) Funny Youtube stuff
    - You know, I think there was a forum created ages ago for stuff like this. The initial reasons for having it was for people to share good links and sites for broadband. I'm fairly sure it's the broadband forum but it may have changed through time as I don't visit it.

    3) The Big Debate Forum (debate anything fairly)
    - Debate anything? I think that's the point of all fora but the topic fits the fora. Hence - if you want to debate something - goto the forum that the debate fits with.

    4) Found this on the web wanted to share with everyone
    - I think that could be an AH thing but I'm not sure.

    5) My dilemma what should I do (We have PI)
    - Yeah, probably PI.

    6) Bit*h about foreigner
    - Not going to happen, we won't have a bitch about foreigners forum.

And this is another example of your "properly constructed sentences"? Hmm....

We have a Forums forum for discussing new forums, so why do we need this thread in "After Hours"?

why does AH need to lose its 'anything goes' reputation?

I had to read this twice to make sense of it. The grammatical structure of that query is wrong in so many ways.

Here are... not 'heres', even if 'here is' was correct it should read 'here's'.

The word is 'lose' not 'loose'
My team will lose the match if their clothing is loose.

Did you mean 'anything goes here' reputation?
    dbnavan wrote:

Even that sentence is not correct! You ask aquestion but don't have a question mark. What's that about? You should also separate your query from your statement by use of a comma or semi-colon.

Other than that I still don't get what you are trying to say. What are you trying to say? Have you been smoking something?

Call me a pedant if you like but I like to read posts that are clearly legible.

by the way, shouldnt this be on the feedback forum as a suggest?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,610 ✭✭✭dbnavan

why does AH need to lose its 'anything goes' reputation?
Because you move anything that doesnt go, or at least complain about it, so its either anything goes or its not.

or maybe the post should have been made in that sticky at the top of the page.
you know the one. it's about what threads belong here and what should be done with the ones that don't.

it's called "moving threads" and it isn't about heart wrenching stories.

    no, i dont.

you just dont ever read a single thing i type do you.

see that thread at the top of the forum?
    its called a discussion.

    its about stuff like this.

seriously, i am starting to worry about you. you seem to read things completely arseways to what i say.

is it me? am i just not explaining myself? i know im not the most cohesive writer in the world, but i like to think i manage to get my point across eventually, but you just dont ever seem to understand me.
is it me? am i completely uncomprehensible to everyone?

We already have a debate forum under Soc.

It's very odd that you would say that. Keira, Gordon and others clearly stated that they didn't understand what you meant whe you started the thread but it seems that you took what they said to mean that they did understand.

As for you having dyslexia, why did you then go on to say that you had perfectly constructed sentences when you knew that might not be the case? My brother is dyslexic and would never make a claim like that.

I honestly hadn't a clue what you meant when you posted so I do think clarification was needed.

So perhaps your suggestion for Funny YouTube (and similar) stuff is a good one as I believe the Boradband forum has morphed into a broadband provider/problem discussion group and it is part of the 'COMP' fora.

I do think a 'Rant' forum would be good. I know we have Thunderdome but that is more about b*tching about other boardies than anything else.

Guys - May give dbnavan a bit of a break? Albeit in his own way, he was trying to be constructive.
