na the best is the vodafone one..
"you have reached the voicemail of 'im unable to take your call at the moment, please leave your name and number and i'll cal you back' is not available, please leave your name and number and they will contact you as soon as possible, thank you"

I refuse to set mine up - it says "the o2 customer you are calling does not have their voicemail set up, please try again later"

I realise this is annoying for people who are trying to talk to me, but why should I pay to hear people's stupid messages, most of which are phones going off in pockets, people hanging up or drunk people calling me a d!ckhead?

If I dont feel like answering my phone, why should I have to pay so that you have the priveledge of leaving an annoying message. If its important, text me the details, or text me and tell me to ring you asap.

Do many of you people out there actually leave messages when you hear a voicemail recording or do ye just hang up the phone? Be honest.

I think mine is setup with some sort of prank call thingy so anyone that calls and trys to leave a message would be quiet confused. I guess thats why no one returns my calls for the job interviews. :)

had voicemail set up for when i was waiting on job interview callbacks but took it off again coz i sounded like a twat! anyone that rings my mobile usually gets me coz the thing is normally, as one mate described it, 'strapped to my ass'.

But here didn't they have it before that the machine would call out your number and then take the message??? I am nearly sure it did.

Ummmmmm.... that's what the OP is complaining about, that the voicemail is a machine which just calls out the number and takes the message.

Why, I have no idea, anybody calling my number doesn't care what my voicemail is if they can still leave a message

Jezus I missed the point completely, sorry OP. I was just thinking of when they say they don't have their voicemail set up and hang up, now that is annoying.

Phoned a client recently and she had a rather witty voicemail along the lines of "If you've got through to my voicemail chances are I'm frantically routing in the depths of my handbag trying to find my phone". Cute.:)

Not that I'm endorsing Vodafone but they do have free voice mail so you don't have to pay. Anyone who is on Vodafone and doesn't have voicemail set up is just lazy.

i have voicemail switched off. i don't see any point in it because if someone calls me and i don't answer, i get a missed call. if they call me on private number, well fcuk them

Can't stand the private number thing. I often don't answer them.

But what about the calls you miss when your phone is off?

I think if people were ever using their mobile for work (like if they worked for themselves ever) then they get into the habit of having voice mail on so they don't miss anything.

What if it is an interview for a job. I don't think they will call back too many times tbh.
