Casino - Careful now

So I went a casino a few days back (I won't mention the name, ).

Arrived at the place at about 4.30am, and realised I had no cash, just my laser card.Asked them if they took laser, they did, so took 150e in chips.Nice flirty Russian girl on the cashier desk. She said she needed my card for a minute so she could write my name down,as I wasn't a member.

Did my gambling, and won 100e so went back, and got 150e refunded back to my card and 100 cash.Happy days.

Next day, I noticed that the back of my laser card had been tampered with.Basically, around the back of the card, someone had attempted to cut the chip out if it. Three out of the four edges had been cut, so if the top part had been cut, the chip would have popped right out.

The cutting seemed so precise, so I can only assume it was done by some sort of device very quickly, but it messed up and didn't fully cut through.

It's just a warning to y'all about this. They could easlily have popped in a new chip into my card, and have cleared my account out (This is assuming that they had a key skimmer aswell).

    Dodgy ruski feckers

*Disclaimer-This is not proven, only speculation*

Does the chip and the magnetic strip work the same way i.e skimming the magnetic strip would be similar to cutting out the chip?

I thought the chip was pin protected so unless they had this there would be no use to them?

I would keep an eye on you bank details

Most established Casinos (in Dublin anyhow) are properly run places. I would advise people only to go to reputable places. I am a regular at one in particular and if you or anyone else would like guidance on the best ones to go to, then vistit the poker forum

I cancelled my card the next day just to be safe.

What I assume about the possible scam is that, they get your pin from a key logger on their own machine, and then take your card for a second for "Identity" purposes, pop out the chip, put a new one back in, and they've a full clone of your card.

are you 150% sure that this is the reult of your card being handled in this place?
if you had no cach, did you use it before you went in there.

i only ask because i dont want any sort of law suit here, and if you are prepared to go into a court of law, with proof, to back up an accusation, then thats fine.

otherwise, it might be an idea to say you *think* this is what happened

You're right, I don't have any proof at all, but I didn't use my card anywhere else before that though, so it looks likely that it happened there.

If my post needs to be edited please do so.
