    Hello all,

It looks like weve made are mind up and are going to move home aftr 10 feckin yrs in Sweden. Im maried with two kids so as you can imagine we have a lot of stuff.
Ideally id like to bring a lot of stuff with us, leather corner sofa, beds, wardrobes, book shelves, clothes etc, etc, etc.
Ive rang a few companies and been totally priced out of it, 6-9,000 Euro!!!!!
Does anyone know of any cheaper ways of doing it?
I tought maybe i could hire a van fill it and drive it over meself but id need some sort of deal where id only drive the van from Sweden to Ireland. I know the boats cost roughly 1k and it would be two days driving but it would be worth it.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Can be a pain alright. Have you tried the bigger shipping companies like UPS or Fedex? They might be able to help you, sorry I can't be of more help.

would 6 - 9k actually be more money than the stuff is worth? It seems so....
Thats not helpful. Im pretty much telling you to sell as much as you can and buy here.

Maybe you can check with some trucking companies to see if they have a load from Ireland to sweden with nothing coming back and you can hire them.. might be cheaper...

Cronins specialise in international moves so could be worth a call for a price. The main shipping company from Sweden to Ireland is LysLine, so might be worth contacting to see if they can put you in touch with a haulier.

6-9k is way more than the 2nd hand value of our stuff so its way too much, im hoping for under 3k tbh.
The thing is that were going to have to move some stuff by land, things like photo albums, important papers wont all fit on the plane. a lot of memoribilia from our time here, we cant just throw it all out!
If the worst comes to the worst though it'll have to go:(

ta, i sent an enquiry to Cronins, but im expecting it to be expensive.

Lysline looks like a good idea, didnt know about them.
I could drive to gothenburg, load up there and get someone to meet them in Rosslare.

We have a winner, Lysine offered me a 20-40foot container from 1.4k-1.7k Euro!!!!!
Excellent, now i just have to drive a lorry load from Stockholm to Gothenburg, load it up, send it off, meet it at the other side (well be going over anyway) and drive it down from Drogheda to Wexford!

Feckin brilliant. Cant thank you enough, wont be happening till next summer but ill keep youse posted.

    Glad it worked out.

We've been using them for years and they've always gone out of their way to be helpful.

    Don't envy you the packing.

I did something similar about 5 years ago with DFDS (www.dfdstransport.com) from Antwerp to Cork. They delivered door-to-door for about £500 in old money. Didn't have as much stuff as you though. Our stuff ended up in a container with a load of underpants for Dunnes Stores.

DFDS and the crowd i rung seem to be the same.
Im delighted at the price, probably -vat and itll cost me a bit to transport it to and from the ports but anything under 3000 Euro is ok with me
