Black Tax

Formed in the summer of 2004 through a mutual love of punk and hardcore
Dave (ex bassist of Strike of 59) and close friend Stacey (ex Dead Kid
Chronicles) hatched a plan to write the soundtrack to world domination.
Recruiting eccentric Scot Paul (ex Shindig) along their travels the band
now only needed a drummer to complete the fold. After a brief spell with
the elusive drummer Alex (Ex Punch Puppet now of The Swallows) they
drafted in old gig pal / professional Jamie Theakston look alike James (ex
Piano). Fuelled by buckfast, boredom and the bands they love such as Kid
Dynamite, Billy Bragg, Converge , Cap'n Jazz, Lifetime, Against Me,
Gorilla Biscuits etc Black Tax was born.

Heroic Doses

Hatched from a simultaneous epiphany at a party in 2004, the first
incarnation of Heroic Doses was formed by Jon, Honest, Devilhands and
whatever friend they could convince to play drums at the time. One riff
and 11 months later and the trio found themselves foundering and
directionless. In the meantime, Jon Doses was writing songs with friend
and new housemate, Awesome Welles. The pair believed theyd written some kick ass tunes, if they only had a band to play them with. Jon stated he could not possibly start a new band as he was already committed to one. One without any songs. If only Awesome and Jon could find a way to get their songs played as they had no band and Jon was committed to a band with no songs How would we do that? they thought. How? The penny finally dropped a lot later than it should have and in December 2004 Awesome met Devilhands and Honest, and in this meeting two bombshells were dropped: Their first gig would be in six weeks and the band would have the unfortunate name of Heroic Doses and the Thousand Straws. So there they were: four young and hungry men with a fistful of half written songs, no drummer a deadline and a name that turned Devilhands several shades of green every time he heard it. A drummer came in the form of Mitch Invasion, a talented youngster who had actually bothered to learn his
instrument, and thusly was so proficient at the drums that he was to
attend a music college that summer. Quite simply he was in another league
from our ragtag band of miscreants. The first gig came and went in bloody
haze of **** ups and missed cues yet, oddly, people seemed to dig the
Heroic Doses and the Thousand Straws vibe. Shortly after it was realised
that young Mitchs talents were beyond them and the boys said good bye to
their first drummer on surprisingly good terms. One cant help but feel
that the boy had a lucky escape. So, enter Sarah "Sez" Webb, former
drummer of Bournemouth based psychobilly outfit Fall Victim and exit the
'and the Thousand Straws' part of the name. One cannot stress the
influence Sarah had upon the dynamic of the band. Without an audition the
girl was in and after Devilhands cuffed one out over the reduction of the
moniker, the new, fully formed Heroic Doses went on to play some knockout shows to which they had a strong positive response much to their surprise. So they continue to peddle their makeshift four chords to any gullible punter who cares to listen.

Roosky

Roosky formed in late '05 from the dregs of a number of Dublin punk bands
from the 90's - namely, Stomach, Pincher Martin, and the excellent
Arnheim. Since then they've been sporadically gigging and in May 2006
released their debut EP Body Mass Index. Taking influence from bands like
Husker Du, Snuff, early Therapy? and Leatherface, these scene veterans
have easily equalled the quality of their former bands.

The Mo7s

After a two year hiatus, genre-bending punk rockers the MO7s are back with a vengeance. With a sound based both in punk and rocka/psychobilly The Mo7s have managed to fuse a Misfits/Cramps influence with a harder edge and fresh from supporting psychobilly legends King Kurt, The Mo7s are set to get asses moving in the lower deck.
