Now its the Magners league - great to see it has a sponsor for a few years which will hopefully ensure its survival and some decent rugby all year round (well in between HEC).

Can't see myself substituting bulmers for heino though :D

Interesting that its going to be called the Magners League down here too, and not the Bulmers League. But, I suppose as its only one market out of the 3, and that up North, its sold as Magners too, it won't be worth it.

When you think about it, the French get away with it being called the "H Cup".

Magners is near international as well - changing it in one country would be a bit daft like.

Bulmers was always originally the owners of Strongbow cider(different company to the Bulmers we all know and love). Now, the man who started Bulmers here's name was Magner and he got the rights to the name Bulmers for Ireland and Ireland only. Therefore, it can't be called Bulmers in the UK. They're changing it to Magners here pretty soon too.

It's like the way Stella is a kind of upmarket and snazzy European lager when it's available on tap here, rather than a pint of "wife beater" over there...

  • i look at stella as a wife beater here...

i'm actually surprised anyone is sponsoring it - IMO the Celtic league is only a training excercise for the Heineken Cup , and the level of interest in it shows.
