    hi

recently my cpu has been clipping going from 4% and peaking at 100% for no reason. I have been told it could be spyware and have run spybot search and destroy, ad aware, windows defender and one called spy catcher and removed all spy ware. also ran two anti virus programmes (avg and anti vir) but there were no virus on my pc.

and yet my cpu is still running at cpu. its like sitting next to a jet engine.

could there be another reason for the clipping?

    I would appreciate any help.

p.s. i am running windows xp on a dell 4600.

Have you got Service Pack 2 installed and also how much RAM have you got installed?

Wen you said "removed all spyware" did you mean it actually found spyware on the system ?

If so I'd check whats loading at startup with Hijack This as well just to be sure nothing is loading in the background. As spyware removal tools aren't always a 100% effective.

You say two anti-virus programs as well I hope you dont have both running at the same time as that will be counter productive ditch the other one and just use AVG.
