Hey guys, I'm nearly finished my rig and all thats left is the graphics card. So my question is, is the nvidia 7900 gt worth the extra cash over the 7600? I'll probably be getting a 19' monitor so will that effect anything?

Well I'd generally go for the 7900GT.

However it depends if you don't make use of AA/AF in games and the top resolution of the monitor is 1280x1024 you should get by fine wth a 7600GT but if you want to use AA/AF and run with high details then the 7900GT is the better choice

My god... The 7900GT is absoloutly fantastic. Compare the Price / Performance difference from 7600 to 7900GT ang then the Price Performance defference from 7900GT to a 7900GTX!

personally, Im a sucker fof the best of the best and I have a 7800GTX, which is kinda comparable to a 7900GT. (please no one contradict me, Im in a happy place)

It really depende on whether your processor will use the full 7900GT and if your making a gaming rig, chances are it will.

Go for the 7900GT, it will last you a lot longer with a lot more pleasure and it wont cost an arm and a leg!

Grand, I already knew the answer in my heart but now when the girlfriend asks why I'm spending so much money on a graphics card I can say you guys tricked me into it! :D

There are 2 types of 7900GT cards one has the 256ram and the other 512megs. Im not talking about the 7900GTX but doe the extra ram make any differince with the GT ?

Not really is the short answer.

There are very few games that benefit from 512MB of RAM if the price difference isn't that great then sure it doesnt hurt go for it but otherwise it's not worth the extra expense.
