It was nice to see so many bikers out tonight. However I felt the organisation was poor. Weren't the street supposed to be closed off for 1 hour? They weren't and often cyclists had to stop so many times. There did not seem to be many gards or organisers lining the route. I saw cars almost knocking down young cyclists. Poor for a event of this kind and size.

at times it felt like i was just cycling through the city on any other day except slower, it seemed that we had to give way to traffic quite a bit, i had an alright time but i was kinda disappointed in the end

The organisation was quite poor alright. Due to this, I think the cycle felt more like a protest at times, rather than a fun family day out.

For example, rather than closing the streets to traffic we had the situation where the group were sudddenly sharing the Quays with articulated trucks, vans and cars. I witnessed a young girl of maybe 8 or 9 yrs almost sandwiched between a trailer and car near Liberty Hall. Only she was quick to react she could have been today's front page news.

I feel this speaks volumes about how the cycling community are really seen by the Dublin Transportation Office and whomever else had a hand in yesterday's cycle.

The Gardaí did a good job, considering they were severely underallocated for the task. I counted three cycle cops on rolling rotation where they would cut through the group, setup roadblocks, wait for the group to pass and then repeat. Well done in poor circumstances

There was much confusion about whether we were to stop a Pedestrian lights or not - there was no security / guards at many crossings and I saw many near misses / annoyed pedestrians.

Also, many didnt obey the rules of the road and stick to the left hand side, thinking the *whole* of the road was closed. In many cases, we only had the left closed off.

That said, it was still an enjoyable 'leisurely' cycle and a lovely day around the city. Can't say I was looking for a punishing cycle, so I just cycled the long way home instead :)

Yup, some of the guys out there could do with that dog, what was his name from Wanderly Wagon, to refresh their memory about the rules of the road.

On the plus side, I won one of those raffled bikes at the end!

I couldnt get over just how slow the jeep was. I spent more time rolling than pedalling.
